  [All day event] Salisbury Spring Equinox Festival
Description:
You're warmly invited to celebrate the beginning of Spring with us at our Spring Equinox festival! There'll be a programme of activities all-day and evening both inside and in the garden - see the provisional schedule below and stay tuned for programme updates. We've also been doing a big Spring clean in the Centre and there'll be a jumble sale for you to peruse - furniture, kitchenware, pottery, fabrics and lots more! We very much welcome donations on the day - all proceeds will go to the development of the Salisbury Centre. We're very grateful to everyone offering their sessions to help us fundraise! Jumble sale - Find some Salisbury Centre treasures! 10:00-12:00 - Self-Care in Difficult Times - A Workshop with Jenny White When our personal lives or the environment we live in seem a little difficult and chaotic, having a self-care routine can help to keep us grounded and resilient during times of change. In this workshop, Jenny White will introduce participants to some of her favourite self-care exercises: self-shiatsu exercises and acupressure points for anxiety, depression and well-being, and a short mindfulness meditation. Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system suitable for all ages that integrates gentle physical exercises, breathing techniques and meditation, creating an awareness of our bodies and minds that leads to a greater sense of health and well being. The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, and help increase vitality. 10:30-12:00 Spring Gardening Session I Join other garden volunteers to prepare the beautiful Salisbury Centre garden for the season ahead. 12:00-14:00 Community Friday Community Fridays at The Salisbury Centre go back almost 30 years now, and are still going strong. 12:00 - 12:45: Meditation (Wellspring Room) 13:00 - 14:00: Bring and share lunch (Kitchen) 14:00 - 14.21: Xiang gong with Margaret (Studio) 14:30-15:30 Taster session: Environmental Arts Therapy with Rachel Campling An experiential introduction to Environmental Arts Therapy in the Centre garden - reflecting on our relationship with the rest of nature. An opportunity for creative self-expression on themes arising particularly at this time of the Celtic year. (This taster may be therapeutic but is not a therapy session.) 14:00 - 17:00 Spring Gardening Session II 15:00 -16:30 – Soup-making! Come and help make a pot of soup for the evening meal and learn more about how to use wild Spring greens such as wild garlic, three-cornered leek and nettle. 15:30 - 16:30 - Mindfulness session with Kristine Mackenzie-Janson of Earthy Mindfulness, with a theme of being present in the body. Open to all, no experience necessary. https://earthymindfulness.com 16:00-18:00 Craniosacral Therapy taster sessions (30 minutes by donation) - with Bryony Smith Ever wondered if Craniosacral Therapy would be something of benefit to you? Here is your opportunity to have a taste of Craniosacral Therapy whilst also supporting the Salisbury Centre. Appointments are at 4, 4.30, 5 and 5.30pm. 16:45 - 17:15 - OM Chanting in the Studio OM Chanting is a simple and free group practice that uses the transformational power of OM to transform negative energy into positive, and support the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of participants. 17:30 - 18:00 Silent meditation 18:00 - 19:00 Soup Supper Join for some delicious Spring greens soup and bread - all vegan and organic ingredients. 19:00 - 21:00 Spring Singing for Joy - with Rachel Howell Come and sing simple rounds and harmony songs, sacred and secular, from around the world. There's no need to read music or to be a 'good' singer - though there'll be plenty to enjoy for those who are confident as well as those who would like to sing but are not sure they can. Rachel also led the singing workshop at last year's winter solstice festival, so we're delighted to welcome her back!
