Mindfulness Meditation Workshop

Description: Mindfulness of Thoughts and the Nature of Mind.

We all know that the practice of the mindfulness of thoughts can help us to see that “thoughts are not facts,” and to therefore feel less imprisoned by their seemingly incessant demands. But the practice, when explored further, can bring affirmative benefits too, especially when we can learn to look beyond our habitual monologues into what some mindfulness teachers refers to as, quieter thoughts; sensual and intuitive processes conducive to both contentment and creativity.

In this one day workshop led by Derek Goodman we will be looking, not just at thoughts themselves but at what some people refer to as the space between and around thoughts, often described as “luminous,” in eastern traditions, especially Tibetan Buddhism. We will also look at practical ways to manage moods and emotions and enquire into the value of external supports such as the arts.

The workshop is most suitable for people who have some prior experience of mindfulness meditation. However, newcomers are welcome to give it a go.
